Rememeber, whatever makes you uncomfortable is your biggest opportunity for growth. I need a bigger house. I need a better car. I need a new man. I need to get a better wife. Now that isn’t you, is it?
You’ve heard the saying before, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Truth be told it’s not. Sometimes you might find out that the grass is a bunch of brown weeds instead. Nothing that you expected at all. It’s a foolish person that wants to replace God blessings with something else. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Remember, he is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for which he has. (Epictetus) “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” (Philippians 4:12) Some folks can be just low down, mean and hateful. But does that mean that you should stoop down to their level? NO!
Former First Lady Michelle Obama once said, when they go low we go high. But when they go low we should go to our knees in prayer and pray for those that mistreat and misuse us. (Luke 6:28) At the end of the day, what you can do is one thing. But what God can do to your enemies is another. (Romans 12:19) Remember, do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace. (Dalai Lama) “I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.' "Indeed, the LORD will give justice to his people,” (Deuteronomy 32:35-36) Let me call my girlfriend to help me out. I need to get the fellas together and talk about this. I hope my mom and dad are there to help me. Sound familiar?
When you’re in a desperate state of needing help it can be overwhelming. Not knowing who to call or what to do can cause unnecessary chaos. But before you call any and everybody. You must first call on The Lord. (Psalm 145:18) Remember, the faster you can signal for rescue, the faster you get out of that situation. (Joseph Teti) “Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory."” (Psalm 50:15) Life can be fair and unfair. For God causes the sun to rise on the Just and Unjust. (Matthew 5:45) Does that mean you crawl up and rollover? NO!
But it does mean that you get dirty and fight the good fight of faith. (1 Timothy 6:12) YES, it’s not right and it looks bad. But God won’t let your enemies and this situation succumb you. (Psalm 121:7) Put your trust in God and not in man and watch the salvation on the Lord on your behalf. (2 Chronicles 20:17) Remember, to survive it is often necessary to fight and to fight you have to dirty yourself. (George Orwell) “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” ( 2 Timothy 4:7) There will come a time in everyone’s life where they will fall. The question is do you stay down when you’ve fallen?
No matter what has taken place in your life. You must make the decision to get back up after the calamity strikes. YES, it hurts and it’s bad. But you’re not going to stay there. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Remember, every man is free to rise as far as he's able or willing, but the degree to which he thinks determines the degree to which he'll rise. (Ayn Rand) “For the righteous falls seven times and rises again,” (Proverbs 24:16) Have you ever felt like you were drowning by the adversity of life? More bills than money. Job stress. Church woes. Relationship heartbreak and family trouble. Sound familiar?
With that much hardship and calamity at once it can be extremely overwhelming. But thank God, we know that trouble don’t last always. (2 Corinthians 4:17) God is with us through it all. (Joshua 1:9) Remember, you don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there. (Edwin Louis Cole) “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2) You can’t do this. I don’t want you. You will never make it. Has anyone ever told you that?
Fact is “they” can say what they will and won’t do. But can’t nobody take the promises away from you that God has for your life. (Jeremiah 29:11) So, stop letting a NO stop your show. Remember, YOU define your own life. Don't let other people write your script. (Oprah Winfrey) “Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."” (Matthew 19:26) Everybody wants to be a winner and nobody wants to lose. However, losing isn’t as bad as you think. And sometimes, it’s necessary.
So, stop crying over your loss. You probably can’t see it yet, but there is a lesson in every loss. Remember, sometimes you win sometimes you learn. (John C. Maxwell) “Stand firm, and you will win life.” (Luke 21:19) I don’t look like what I've been through!!!! How many of you have that statement as your testimony?
See, your character is your mental and moral qualities. This is what you’re made up of. And everything that you’ve been through has made you stronger and wiser today. Remember, character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. (Helen Keller) “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:3-5) I need to get this done. But I have to get this too. I also need that. Sound familiar? A life full of “NEEDS”.
When you’re in need of any and everything and don’t know what you’re going to do to get it. You go to the source, God. (Psalm 16:5) Remember, everything you need God already is. (Priscilla Shirer) “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) Worry is to give way to anxiety or unease; allow one's mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles. Now, that isn’t you, is it?
Fact is God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear. (2 Timothy 1:7) You have nothing to upset yourself over. Every worry and care that you have must be turned over to the Lord. (1 Peter 5:7) Truth be told….It’s already handled!!! (Romans 8:28) Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. (Dale Carnegie) “" the Lord replied, "you are worried and upset about many things.” (Luke 10:41) “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matthew 6:27) You told them that you were going to do it. But you didn’t show up. You made a promise. But didn’t keep it. Now, that wouldn’t be you, is it?
Stop going back on your word. That is what you have. If you make a promise, oath or vow stick to it. (Numbers 30:2) Remember, your thoughts should agree with your words, and the words should agree with your actions. In this world people think one thing, say another thing, and do something else. This is horrible. This is crookedness. (Swami Sivananda) “"Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.'” (Matthew 5:33) Sitting on the job waiting for 5:00 o’clock to hit. At the doctor’s office constantly looking at your watch wondering how long it’s been since you’ve been sitting there. Sound familiar?
Unfortunately, we live in a world that we can have everything RIGHT NOW. But that’s not reality. Sometimes what you want it’s going to require you to wait and have patience. So, stop watching the clock and do what it does and keep on going. Remember, the two most powerful warriors are patience and time.
